Hobe Sound, which derives its name from the Jobe Indians that lived there before the European settlers, is an unincorporated area in southern Martin County with a peaceful village-like atmosphere. It encompasses 5.7 sq miles and enjoys a tropical climate with average winter temps of 74 degrees.
It currently has a little more than 11,500 residents who enjoy the sandy beaches on nearby Jupiter Island, excellent golf courses and unblemished parks.
It borders the Intracoastal Waterway giving boaters access to both the St. Lucie inlet to the north and the Jupiter inlet to the south. River tours allow residents and guests to experience seeing manatees and playful dolphins.
Hobe Sound’s downtown’ district offers many quaint shops, boutiques, café’s and art galleries. It also hosts the Hobe sound festival of the arts, the art walk & stroll and the annual Christmas parade.
